This report is a summary of the AI Governance: AI Assessments, Audits, and Public Oversight Methods workshop that All Tech Is Human organized last September 20th in NYC with sponsorship from IBM Research.
Some of the questions we addressed included:
Why do we need AI governance?
What have we learned as we operationalize AI governance within our own institutions?
What are the challenges and constraints that we have faced in doing this work? What is missing?
Given the issues we face and what is missing, what should we do going forward?
Read the report to discover the insights and perspectives shared by participants during the workshopâs breakout discussions, and stay tuned for follow-up workshops and resources for Responsible AI Governance in 2025! Reach out to Rebekah Tweed if youâd like to participate.

All Tech Is Human's David Ryan Polgar and Sandra Khalil had a wonderful time meeting with Ambassador Jarmo Sareva last week at the Consulate General of Finland in New York.
Building on an event and reception we held together this past March ("Strengthening the Information Ecosystemâ), we discussed the importance of preserving and strengthening a human-centric approach to AI. We deeply appreciate the partnership with Ambassador Sareva and the Finnish Consulate, and look forward to continuing ways to promote multistakeholder collaboration around Responsible AI.
Check out the learnings from our previous collaboration with the Finnish Consulate, which had remarks by the United Nations Secretary General's Envoy on Technology Amandeep Singh Gill, along with broad representation across civil society, government, industry, and academia.
Sandra also recently came back from Istanbul, where she was on stage at NATOâs Stratcom conference speaking on the work of All Tech Is Human and the need for global, multistakeholder understanding and collaboration. Full video arriving soon.
