Join our new working group & attend the Responsible Tech University Summit
New working group for HX (Human Experience) & improving digital spaces, more speakers announced for the upcoming summit, Slack group surpasses 2k members, and much more!
👋We are forming a collaborative, interdisciplinary working group and would like you to join.
As the explainer video for HX (Human Experience) states above, “We need a new way to think about our relationship with tech that embraces the nuance of digital life while centering what's most important: our human experience.” All Tech Is Human is part of the just-launched HX Project, alongside the Aspen Institute, Data & Society Research Institute, Project Zero (Harvard Graduate School of Education), Susan Crown Exchange, Headstream Innovation, Connected Camps, Connected Learning Lab, and Pivotal Ventures that have been exploring ways to better align digital spaces with ideal human experiences and looking to incorporate and include a diverse range of other individuals and organizations doing valuable work at the intersection of social media, wellbeing, business models, policies, and human behavior.
We’re excited to announce that All Tech Is Human is launching an working group to better understand the ecosystem, opportunities and challenges, and the people, organizations, and ideas related to improving digital spaces and aligning it with our HX (Human Experience). Similar to our previous working groups on The Business Case for AI Ethics, our updated Responsible Tech Guide, and also Improving Social Media, we will be releasing a helpful report for the community.
During our recent Responsible Tech Mixer, we divided into breakout rooms around five key areas that we have identified as being part of HX (Human Experience), based on the feedback we received already from all of you.
Product Design: inclusive design, diversity by design, human rights by design, international by design, human-centered design
Freedom of expression vs safety & privacy; security & safe spaces; content moderation issues
Broken business model: social wellbeing over profits; community ownership of social spaces
Digital Citizenship; digital divide; digital media literacy, digital accessibility
Tech Augmentation: digital spaces augmenting physical ones, facilitating connection
👍We are holding our Responsible Tech University Summit online on December 1st and you really should be there.
We had so much fun with our Responsible Tech Summit that we held on September 15th, that we funneled the energy into organizing another large-scale online gathering for those committed to building a better tech future! Our Responsible Tech University Summit is free, online, and open to everyone (not just students). We added “university” to the title, as we will be primarily focusing on both understanding and sharing insight into the Responsible Tech ecosystem, career paths, education journeys, and how to get involved. We’ll also be highlighting some of the learnings from our Responsible Tech University Ambassadors program (55 universities and growing), along with hearing directly from many of the ambassadors during panels and organization presentations. Every attendee will leave with a better understanding of the ecosystem, ways to get more involved, a bigger network of others committed to Responsible Tech, and a healthy dose of inspiration!
Since our founding in 2018, we have noticed that undergrad, grad, PhD, and law students have heavily interested in getting more involved in the ecosystem, but often lack the needed guidance, community, and pathways into the field. That’s where we come in! All Tech Is Human is uniquely situated as a connective tissue between a diverse range of people from a variety of backgrounds (“Where do we go?”), universities that are educating the next generation (“Where do we send them?”), and industry & organizations that are looking for these individuals (“Where do we find them?”). We deeply believe is uniting multiple stakeholders across a sectors and disciplines in order to have a more cohesive understanding of the ecosystem, and be able to truly co-create a better tech future.
If you would like to be involved as a future speaker, university partner, community partner, or sponsor, please fill out our INTEREST FORM.
🤯11 months ago we launched a Slack group for the Responsible Tech community. Today we have over 2k members across the globe.
Here at All Tech Is Human, we have a variety of activities that are all interconnected (Slack group, mentorship program, university ambassadors, summits, job board, working group, Responsible Tech Guide). Last year we were receiving a lot of requests for greater community building and ways to stay in touch after gatherings, collaborate, share information and insight. So in November 2020 we launched our Slack group, which today has over 2k members from a wide variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
And for anyone having an issue signing in, just drop us a note at Hello@AllTechIsHuman.org and we’ll get you in.
