Meeting the Moment in Responsible Tech
Plus our new podcast, coming to SF, and upcoming livestreams
So, how are you feeling right now?
Yeah, there is a lot going on. We get it. We feel it. What gives us hope, however, are the thousands of deeply-committed individuals and hundreds of organizations working tirelessly to align our tech future with the public interest. Thank you.
As an organization, we are meeting this moment by leveraging the fact that we have built the relational infrastructure that underpins the Responsible Tech ecosystem. This allows us to weave expertise and insight from the entire Responsible Tech ecosystem, provide a sandbox for solution-building and socialization, and influence key levers of change. Right now, a cohesive ecosystem is crucial.
We hope you can join our May 8th livestream on Meeting the Moment: The Road Ahead for the Responsible Tech Movement. Also, coming up on April 24, we have a livestream around the ethics of companion chatbots. In-person, we have an online safety gathering on April 23 in NYC, a senior-level collaboration with the Finnish Consulate in New York on May 21 on strengthening multistakeholder collaboration in Responsible AI, and a gathering in London on July 16.
🔭All Tech Is Human is also soliciting interest to launch a podcast, along with our summer gathering in San Francisco.
Now, onto the newsletter! 👇
🚵Join our upcoming livestream about the Road Ahead for the Responsible Tech Movement
All Tech Is Human’s Sandra Khalil will be moderating this timely conversation to discuss both the current challenges and ways that we can have a more supportive and conducive ecosystem.
Speakers to be announced in the coming days; join us on LinkedIn, where we frequently post updates and happenings.
💡There is a method to our madness: we have laid the relational infrastructure that underpins the Responsible Tech ecosystem
Let’s be honest: it can be a challenge to translate our impactful work into terms that resonate with a broad audience. Every day, we hear from individuals like Ava, who are deeply impacted by our work. We hear from people at tech companies who are creating change from within, people who find jobs or start new organizations from being part of our community, students and recent grads who are now inspired to be part of the ecosystem. It is all quite heartwarming. Our organization provides a springboard and necessary connective tissue.
At the same time, creating this relational infrastructure that has benefited tens of thousands of individuals is not always as easily quantifiable as, say, an app. Our organization is currently working hard to showcase its value to ensure our long-term viability. Please reach out to us with your ideas.
We’d greatly appreciate a testimonial about the impact that our work has had on you. And for foundations and other funders that allow us to create this network, hold important gatherings, and develop crucial resources, we are currently holding conversations for our Responsible Tech Supporters Network, with supporters to be announced in our next Responsible Tech Guide and at our Responsible Tech Summit in September.
"Philanthropy can play a key role in helping ensure there is physical, digital, and social infrastructure for people to be in relationship with each other as they build their awareness of systems...Cultivating spaces and durable opportunities for people to convene, converse, learn, dance, move, be moved, and discover shared stakes in problems and possibilities – meaningfully builds agency, democratic capacity, and participatory power." -Michelle Shevin and Charley Johnson, “How Philanthropy Can Use the “AI Moment” to Build More Just Futures Today” for Tech Policy Press

👋Don’t worry, San Francisco. We didn’t forget about you.
Our organization is weaving together the ecosystem through our in-person gatherings that occur in NYC, SF, DC, and London. In addition, we have independently organized gatherings leveraging the connectivity we provide in our large Slack (12k members across 106 countries, sign in | apply) that happen throughout the globe.
We are looking forward to putting together a Responsible AI-related gathering for 200+ people in San Francisco this summer. Would you like to be involved?
