Fresh off the release of our HX Report: Aligning Our Tech Future With Our Human Experience, we are gearing up for another large open working group that brings together a broad range of backgrounds and perspectives to tackle thorny issues. That’s kind of our jam, here. And building off our previous report, The Business Case for AI Ethics: Moving From Theory to Action, we are looking to piece together the people, organizations, and ideas at the intersection of AI & Human Rights. This collaborative working group will be developing an upcoming report aimed at better understand the multitude of issues related to the topic, pointing people toward valuable resources from other organizations, and sharing insights from a wide range of voices through profile interviews.
We’ll be exploring areas such as deepfakes, surveillance tech, AI’s impact on criminal justice, privacy concerns, and more.
🤯We just lined up our panel for a major DC event on March 23, and it will blow your mind.
Well, hello public interest technologists and changemakers! We see you. Not only that, but we have lined up an incredible panel for an exciting major event in Washington DC on March 23rd that is embarrassingly stacked with talent. We are thrilled to welcome Cori Zarek (Executive Director of the Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation at Georgetown University), Afua Bruce (Author of The Tech That Comes Next: How Changemakers, Philanthropists, and Technologists Can Build an Equitable World), and B Cavello (Director of Emerging Technologies at the Aspen Institute). If you are in the DMV area, you should be there. This panel will be moderated by All Tech Is Human’s David Ryan Polgar, who recently wrote this piece for Built In about tech companies needing to better understand the interests of the public.
And if that wasn’t enough, this is all part of Our Connected Future presented by Digital Void that will include a Responsible Tech Mixer, live podcast taping of There Are No Girls On the Internet by Bridget Todd w/ Jordan Uhl (host on The Young Turks, host of The Insurgents podcast), cristina lópez g. (senior analyst at Graphika), and Ellie Hall (senior reporter at Buzzfeed News). and fireside chat with Ryan Grim (The Intercept’s D.C. Bureau Chief, contributor to the Young Turks Network, author of We’ve Got People: From Jesse Jackson to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the End of Big Money and the Rise of a Movement).
🗽If you are in the NYC area, stop by our Responsible Tech Mixer (in-person!) this Wednesday.
Yeah, we are dusting off some unused social skills and getting reading to welcome an exciting mix of org leaders, public interest technologists, academics, college students, some of our mentors and mentees from our mentorship program, and more!
👍The Consulate General of Canada in New York joins our Responsible Tech NYC initiative!
If we had a superpower, it would be bringing together a diverse range of stakeholders to tackle thorny tech & society issues. Our non-profit has a knack to bringing together various parts of the puzzle (policymakers, universities, tech companies, researchers, students, organizations, advocates) that need to unite in order to co-create a better tech future.
Sure, this superpower might not may not seem as exciting as Spider-Man: No Way Home, but it is directly related to saving our planet. The future of tech equals the future of democracy.
So, with that, we are thrilled to welcome the Consulate General of Canada in New York as a collaborating partner for the Responsible Tech NYC initiative we are spearheading which is all about uniting a broad range of stakeholders! Other collaborating partners include New_Public, Consumer Reports, TheBridge, Digital Void, Cyber Collective, Tech 2025, Soliya, Tech Policy Press, a Better Mousetrap, and more being announced soon! We’re always looking for additional collaborators, so please reach out. We have a lot in the works…
🔭Don’t worry, we’re having an ONLINE Responsible Tech Mixer soon so everyone can attend.
Did you think we forgot about YOU?! Sure, our home may be in NYC but our heart in found throughout the globe. Please join us on Wed, March 16th at 1pm EDT for an ONLINE Responsible Tech Mixer. Discussions from the breakout rooms will also help inform our upcoming AI & Human Rights working group, as bringing together people is a wonderful way to learn about new organizations, resources, and people!
