Plus a new AI Assurance Ecosystem Workshop in London and much more
👋Well, hello there!
Welcome back to All Tech Is Human’s newsletter, where we discuss all the latest happenings from our organization and the Responsible Tech movement. We know there is a lot to be worried about and potentially discouraged with in the world today, but here is one thing that gives us hope: our vibrant community. Read below to see all of the inspiring and passionate people who are collectively working toward a better tech future, along with the numerous ways you can get involved.
In today’s newsletter, you’ll read about a 200-person gathering we’re doing in Washington DC on the future of Trust & Safety, along with an additional curated London gathering at techUK (AI Assurance Ecosystem Workshop) happening the day after our 250-person gathering at The Royal Society around online safety.
We also hope you’ll join us on May 8th, livestream with the ATIH team on The Road Ahead for the Responsible Tech Movement, along with tomorrow’s livestream (May 1) on the current state of global elections (building on our work with the UNDP). Lastly, we are putting together a sprint working group around AI companion chatbots, following our livestream held last week on the topic. And we’re moving forward with our Responsible AI Governance work that you’ll read about soon.
Now, onto the newsletter! 👇
🚅We’re coming back to DC to discuss the future of Trust & Safety
Following the success of our Safety by Design gathering we held in NYC last week (with many orgs and individuals from DC participating), we’re coming back to Union Stage for two panel conversations (evolving field of Trust & Safety, policy landscape), and crucial networking with participants from civil society, government, industry, and academia.
This gathering is being done in collaboration with Resolver.

🛣️What does the road ahead look like for the Responsible Tech ecosystem? Join this timely conversation.
We have a unique role here at All Tech Is Human, as we regularly interact with thousands of individuals from all different stakeholder groups. For example, the 12k people who have joined our Slack community (sign in | apply) have all filled out an application where they often describe their pain points, current role, ideas for a stronger ecosystem, and much more.
On May 8th, please join Sandra Khalil, Rebekah Tweed, Sherine Kazim, and David Ryan Polgar from the All Tech Is Human team to discuss the road ahead. We would love for you to join us to offer questions and commentary.

🎊Thank you to everyone who participated in our Safety by Design gathering in NYC
We had an incredible mix of 150 individuals who came together last Wednesday in Manhattan. You can watch our fireside chat between Dr. Rebecca Portnoff (Thorn) and Sandra Khalil about our joint generative AI principles for elevating child safety that numerous companies have publicly endorsed, along with unpacking the incredibly difficult (yet crucial) task of reducing harms against children.
You can also watch our panel conversation on the role of civil society, featuring Merve Lapus (Common Sense Media), Sean Killingsworth (Design It for Us), David Sullivan (Digital Trust and Safety Partnership), and Suzi Ragheb (Integrity Institute).

We had a robust discussion around the innovation, ethics, and evolution of human-AI relationships. This conversation features Kim Malfacini (OpenAI), Sam Hiner (Young People’s Alliance), Henry Shevlin (Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence), and Rose E. Guingrich (Princeton University GradFUTURES Social Impact Fellow at All Tech Is Human).
✍️GET INVOLVED: We are putting together a primer on AI companion chatbots that you can get involved with here.
