🥳All Tech Is Human is hiring a Program Associate to work in NYC!

If you have been reading our newsletter, you may notice that our non-profit is involved with a wide range of activities. Running a mentorship program, large community Slack group (2.9k members), summits, mixers, livestreams, university ambassadors program, job board, open working groups (AI & Human Rights happening now), reports, Responsible Tech Guide, and more. It’s a lot! (see all of our projects here.)

That is exactly why we are hiring a new member to join our team as a Program Associate, primarily focused around knowledge management. Grant experience is also a huge plus as we continue to expand on our mission of growing the Responsible Tech ecosystem and uniting a diverse range of stakeholders to co-create a better tech future.

Program Associate role

🤯We launched the event site for our Responsible Tech Summit: Improving Digital Spaces happening May 20th!

Convening a broad range of stakeholders is a major part of what our organization does (our other two “buckets” are multidisciplinary education and talent pipelines). In fact, our organization kicked off in earnest with our inaugural summit in the fall of 2018 in NYC. For our Responsible Tech Summit: Improving Digital Spaces, we are putting together something really special. Check out our recently-launched event site that is being updated throughout the week with additional speakers! You can freely sign up to watch all of the panels and fireside chats being livestreamed throughout the all-day event, or apply for some very-limited in-person seats in NYC. This gathering is being held at the Consulate General of Canada in New York, our event partner.

👋Well hello, San Francisco! Come meet us this Wednesday for our tech policy mixer with the Tony Blair Institute

If you are in the Bay Area, please come out and say hello tomorrow for our tech policy mixer with the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change! Wait, did you need more enticement to shut down your laptop and see humans in 3D? Well, okay. This free mixer of tech policy professionals is being held at the Internet Archive! You will also get to chat up some of the people behind All Tech Is Human, including founder & director David Ryan Polgar and director of strategy Dr. Karina Alexanyan.

😲We’re doing a Better Social Media Jobs Fair this Friday with New_Public!

Hmm…seems like a lot of people are talking about this whole Elon Musk and Twitter issue…well, we wanted to highlight some of the key organizations that have been working to build a better social media! What is their mission? What is it like to work there?

You can freely sign up as either an attendee, or reach out if you are with an organization that would like to present!

Reflections on the livestream

😎Some cool happenings in Responsible Tech

“The Berkman Klein Center’s Institute for Rebooting Social Media (RSM) at Harvard University is thrilled to announce a call for applications for their inaugural RSM Assembly Fellowship. RSM is looking to develop and demonstrate what a healthy information ecosystem could look like, and how to get there; if you have a powerful idea, project, or plan — or parts of one — for an intervention in this space, or if you’re looking to make a more direct impact in the public interest, the RSM Assembly Fellowship might be for you! This part-time, hybrid program will assemble a cohort of interdisciplinary professionals, including designers, engineers, policy experts, advocates, and creators and will run from October 2022-April 2023. Learn more, apply, and share! Application deadline: May 6th!” -Toni Gardner, Program Coordinator at Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society

“For my MSc thesis project at the Oxford Internet Institute, I’m excited to research the efficacy of provenance-enhancing technologies for reducing susceptibility to misinformation. I am interested in provenance tech and have also been leading a working group with some researchers, technologists, and policy people to read more about it. It would be great to connect with anyone in the space who might be working/have perspectives on the topic."-Cassidy Bereskin

"The Center for Humane Technology is delighted to announce the public launch of its (free!) course, Foundations of Humane Technology. If you're passionate about responsible and ethical tech, this course is for you! You don't need a technical background to take it -- just a sincere motivation and desire for expanding your perspective, practices, and community.”-Maria Bridge, Chief Communications Officer at the Center for Humane Technology

✊Let’s co-create a better tech future.
