We're celebrating CODED BIAS this Friday
Join our Q&A conversation this Friday at 8pm ET w/ Meredith Broussard (author of Artificial Unintelligence), Timnit Gebru (Co-Lead, Ethical Artificial Intelligence Team at Google), & Shalini Kantayya
Join us this Friday at 8pm ET as we celebrate the theatrical release of CODED BIAS! Artificial intelligence technologies will define the future of civil rights, and this film features many prominent advocates and researchers fighting for a better tech future. Similar to All Tech Is Human, Coded Bias views issues around algorithmic bias, facial recognition, and social media through a sociotechnical lens.
We can’t talk about technology without discussing power, equity, and fairness.
All Tech Is Human’s founder David Ryan Polgar will be moderating a special Q&A for Coded Bias with Meredith Broussard (Author of Artificial Unintelligence, Assistant Professor at NYU), Timnit Gebru (Co-Lead at Google’s Artificial Intelligence Team), and director Shalini Kantayaa. Register HERE.

Here at All Tech Is Human, our focus is to build the Responsible Tech pipeline. In order to build a better tech future, we need the industry to be more diverse, participatory, and multidisciplinary. Here is a new video about the need for a diverse range of thinkers! This builds off our “multidisciplinary map” from the Responsible Tech Guide, released in partnership with NYU’s Alliance for Public Interest Technology.
Bijal Mehta is a student at Northwestern University who spearheaded this map originally, working together with our team of 35 collaborators. Now Bijal is starting up a student group at Northwestern around Responsible Tech! Today’s volunteers with All Tech Is Human are tomorrow’s public interest technologists & changemakers.
Do you want to help us build our Business Case for AI Ethics: Empowering Workers to Be Changemakers? We already have over 50 (!!) collaborators who are helping us bridge the gap between academia and industry and offer suggestions around how we can reconcile AI ethics work with the business imperative of generating revenue. There is a tremendous need for translation between the two worlds.
We are looking for collaborators to help assemble this document that will be released on December 9th. In addition, we are having a video call on Monday, November 16 at 12pm ET. Join the team!
TECH ISN’T JUST A TOOL & HUMANS AREN’T JUST USERS

The NYC Mayor’s Office of the CTO is launching a second cohort of our NYC[x] Innovation Fellows program in partnership with US Digital Response. The first cohort featured 12 volunteer technologists working on three civic tech products on an 8-week sprint. We have been in touch with them, and they are still accepting applications if you submit today. APPLY HERE.
