We're launching a Responsible Tech Mentorship Program!
Are you looking for mentorship or would you like to be a mentor? Join our new program to help build community and created better pathways into the Responsible Tech ecosystem.
👋We’re launching a Responsible Tech Mentorship Program and we’re looking for both mentors and those wanting mentorship.
Our organization is focused on building the Responsible Tech pipeline, making it more diverse, multidisciplinary, and aligned with the public interest. One request we have received over and over since our founding in 2018 is a mentorship program; we are thrilled to launch our Responsible Tech Mentorship Program and hope that you join us either as a mentor or mentee (or both! Some individuals with a few years of experience in Responsible Tech can assist college students, grad students, recent grads, and career-changers but would also benefit from the mentorship of veteran leaders in the space).
👍We’re continuing to build out tools to help created better pathways, understand, and community in Responsible Tech
In our last newsletter, we mentioned our list of over 250 Voices in Responsible Tech, which showcases the diverse range of speakers, panelists, and interviewees we have had involved in All Tech Is Human projects (reports, events, livestreams). We also have our flagship report, the Responsible Tech Guide, along with our Responsible Tech Job Board, How to Build a Career in Responsible Tech, and a growing Slack group of over 920 members where we are discussing careers, sharing advice, mentioning upcoming events and education opportunities, and more.
📚Weapons of Math Destruction is the next book for our Responsible Tech Reading Group! Group discussion on April 26.
Felicia Chen & Grace Juster, who run the Responsible Tech Reading Group which has quickly grown to 160 members, held the first discussion recently for Algorithms of Oppression by Safiya Noble. The group then voted on the next book to read and discuss, which is Weapons of Math Destruction by Cathy O’Neil! The group will discuss this book on April 26th. The reading group meets through our Slack group (not yet a member? You can join here). If you are already on our Slack but not a part of the group, click on our group and find the Reading Group channel.
